What is NUCA?

NUCA (NU Cybersecurity Association) brings together students at Nazarbayev University who want to explore cybersecurity. We run competitions, share what we learn and work on practical security projects.

You might enjoy writing software, studying networks or figuring out how a system works. You can join with that interest, even if you haven't tried cybersecurity before.

CTF competitions

In a Capture The Flag competition, you solve security challenges and submit the flags you find. A task might ask you to investigate a suspicious file, locate a place from a photograph or find a vulnerability in a web application.

You can compete with friends or form a team of one. Some challenges call for technical knowledge; others take observation and patience. You can take part as a beginner.

Your competition history

We give each CTF its own challenges, teams and scoreboard. After organizers review and publish the results, you can revisit the event in our competition history.

Your NUCA profile records the events you joined, your personal solves and the teams you competed with. You can see your team placements alongside your personal statistics.

What we're planning

We're working toward a university CTF team. Through NUCA competitions, we want to find students interested in representing NU at other events.

We also plan a reward system for exchanging competition points for prizes. We'll publish the rules and details before we launch it.

Responsible practice

We run NUCA competitions in authorized environments. Stay within the scope of each challenge, follow the event rules and respect other players. Use what you learn to understand and protect systems.
